Teenage Pregnancy Pathway

This chapter was added in the manual in September 2021.

Overview Paragraph:

This chapter should be read in conjunction with the LSCP Pre-Birth Protocol. This guidance is provided by the United Lincolnsire Hospital Trusts (ULHT) and is managed and updated via their governance structure.

It is important to note that teenager females who are pregnant and expectant fathers should also be considered as young people in their own right. These pathway documents provide additional support and guidance for professionals. They also highlight the importance of considering the completion of an Early Help Assessment where additional support would be of benefit to the young people and the unborn baby.

The attached documents make reference to safeguarding referrals being accepted by Lincolnshire Children's Services at the point of the mother reaching 20 weeks gestation. Local practice has been updated and referrals are now accepted at 14 weeks gestation. ULHT will update these documents to reflect this in due course.
